Duane those are just the shafts on the feathers. Once the feather erupts fully they will fall off.

Talked to Gayle a few nites ago about our Black boys. Thought I'd share these pics I took today of the couple that are oldest. This boy is from the BUS line. He has some Akers Buff Orp in him. He has that one wing feather outta place on the other side. but this side he looks not too bad for a 7 month old I like this fella so far. he is a month or so younger. Time will tell how he finishes up. This maybe the only Blue cockerel I will keep I will eventually take my Whites to my Blacks to better my Blacks. I know Christina & Harry are doing this this to better their Whites. In my case I like my Whites alot (thank you Harry, Ron and Joyce).

I had talked to Gayle last week and she had mentioned for me to keep posting here to keep things interesting. Here is a pic of Gayle's cockerel from her Whites I hatched out in May and STORK, my partially brain dead BUSTOFF line gangly Black cockerel, who I have alot of hope for in being the next Black male heir to the FERAN thrown in my #1 Black Orp pen. Dogs are killing racoons now and STORK is hopefully safe and sound in this grow out pen.

Beautiful Birds! Christina, you are an inspiration to so many , including me. Havnt had much time to take pics. working way too much. but did take a couple. This is Cole..We just love him..so many of ours are in molt right now..you might see one sneak into a picture here and there..always feel sorry for them when they molt in this cool weather. The frankenstorm blew branches into my temp fence..had to straighten it all up.. Lots of permanent fence out back..i take advantage of areas for grazing , open up one area, close another..

A few of my 11 week old Blacks have white tipped primary feathers. Will these disappear at the first molt? Should they be culled for this?

I have 2 blacks I hatched one on Easter and one about a week later. I am pleased with these 2 so far. They are 1/2 Korfus and 1/2 unknown line. The cockerel has white tipped wing feathers and had a white beak but its almost completely dark now. Any opinions on them would be appreciated.

I like both birds. The width on the cockerels legs is nice and wide. You will really know how well the cross is when you breed these two together.
