Did his comb look purple? Have you wormed them? I have never seen bantams do that but I know with the LF they can have heart problems. I had a splash male that would get excited running around and his comb would be a dark purple and after resting a while it would look better.

Well, another show this weekend. Should be a lot of fun. Get to meet Butch Gunderson if I can find him. Don't quote me but I think it is a APA semi annual meet. Taking five Orpington LF 3 blacks, 1 white, 1 blue. Come up and introduce yourself! Will be a fun weekend.

Hi all with spring here now I know a few of you will be selling eggs, chicks, and even started birds. I will be selling my stock on www.bidbirdauctions.com/ and would like for you all to check it out. It is owned by a good friend of mine Jesse Paul. I hope it takes off for him and his family!

I have 185 out so far. I just candled eggs and have a bunch more to put in the hatcher in a couple of days. I will probably only set from select matings after this. Certain pens are always slow to lay fertile eggs. I have never had such good luck so early in the season. Will be nice to be done hatching and get on to spring chores without the distraction of tending the incubator and all that goes with that. I usually do about 300 chicks. I hope you are all having success. Vern I wish I was hatching more. Way to go Vern!!!

I finally have some babies. I have some of my nice black males eggs hatching right now! It feels more like spring. Got off a little early from work because our census is low. Spent a little extra time with the birds. I have many promising breeders even with the bobcat attack.

That is going to be in our handbook as well. Talked with Steve Jones and he gave me permission to reprint it in the UOC materials. I would love to borrow that male. Something to definitely breed to. Cecil had the best whites
