We have one. Jon does it. We have a facebook page, if we had a UOC facebook group Im guessing it would be members only. We would have to get board approval before we do anything though.

Do they have the black face, called gypsy face, as adults? I know some lines of Australorps have the black faces as young birds but redden out as they mature.

It is deceiving since he is young, as he gets older and fills out he will not be as lanky.

You can always put a couple in each post until you have shared all of them. Also you can embed the pictures, without uploading them using photobucket.

Were you a judge? I didn't get a chance to get feed back so if you had any suggestions I would love to hear. I know her comb is wrong and someone else told me her color was a little off (pretty sure that she was a bit sun faded. No I wasnt a judge, they were Art Reiber and Steven Beaty, I just was down there to visit a friend and pick up some birds I had down there. I thought she was really nice, one thing I think i would have changed is to have a little more even width through the back, but she was overall a nice bird. I don't think we met, I talked to my fair share of people though lol.

Bill, Lemon Blue is a variety that is in the standard, go look, Blue Red is also, it is not what you have there. What you have is just blue with red leakage. From what I have been told by breeders of blue in other breeds, you want to have the Silver gene with the blue in order for better coloring, but that is hard to get since most breeders interbreed the lines of Blue and black birds within the breed. Red helps with the green sheen in the blacks.

Kathy used a Frank Reese/ Good Shepherd Farms Barred Rock, Doug once explained to me why he believed he got the Delawares in the first generation, but I cant remember what he told me. The original creation of them was more similar to the way Kathy did it, they are looking good from the pictures I have seen.

I have decided to bump this up in order to re emphasize the purpose of this forum. We are here to discuss and share photos of our birds and discuss and share breeding ideas. Please do not bring any drama from other sites onto this board, if you do I will not hesitate to edit or delete posts.

Gayle, I would open each picture in paint, you can re-size them. I typically re-size to %25 and that works pretty well for me.

Here is a way to add a photo/ attatchment to a post. First you get into the thread you want to post the picture in Next you click the reply button at the top of the quick reply box. Then you select add attatchment Finally you select the photo you would like posted, and select enter. This should make the attachments show up in the post.

I put her and another young pullet in another pen. The show is still about 6 weeks away so I figure I will start bribing with treats to warm up to me and then move on to handling. Then move her to a smaller cage for grooming (is that the right word for cleaning a chicken?)I also read some where to hand feed them treats from above so that when people approach the cage they will be looking up for their treat. I think that trick is more for modern games, Orpingtons should pose rather well just being in the cage. Also make sure you dont keep her into to small of a cage for conditioning/ grooming, if you put them in something similar to a show cage they can mess up their feathers. A Rock breeder near me has stressed to me that you want to keep single birds in pens that are around 3x4 or 4x4 when getting them ready to show.
