This guy is a Heirloom English, I sent Renie some Clevenger/Fred Farthing birds to cross on him. I'm hoping to get a male out of my females and this guy for some new blood. I thought he sure had some nice pieces that I could use in my birds.

I found these illustrations in an old standard that is online, it is amazing how little the standard has changed through the years. Attachments:

Renie, I might have messed up. He might be better than the guy I'm using. It's hard for me to tell how a young male will turn out. Those guys was hatched in Aug.

Yes it's good to know. I was worried about going to NH, it gets cold in western Oklahoma, but NH, I would say you guys know cold. Chicken do good in cold weather.

I just got my first 2 eggs from my Fred hens for the season. I will wait till this weekend before I set them and keep my fingers crossed. Their under my same Doug cock I used last year. He has some nice boys growing out. Thank you Fred & Doug for giving me these wonderful birds to play with. Young Buff cockerel from last years duo I used which I hatched out 20. One of those cockerels is destined for a friend of mine Joyce Feusting. Joyce is one of the best folks for the hobby. She and Doug really do a great job with the kids in the 4-H Club they run. It is very important for kids to get quality birds. IF they do not, they tend to blow alot of time, money and after they grow out, when it it obvious they bought inferior stock the kids loose interest and get rid of the birds. Anyone in the Indiana area who want to give their kids a good time with poultry should join 4-H clubs like Doug's and Joyce's.
