I think the biggest problem with orps is, we get them to fat. Fat and heat don't go together very good. With people also. I'm a little over weight and the heats gets to me pretty fast. Get it done early and stay inside in the afternoon and run the air system.

I lost my good male the other day, it was 108. I just got him this spring, he was a Cannon bird and losing him wasn't good. I do have several sons. Young pullets will take care of themselves.

I would watch the heat, if it's hot the male might get to hot. You could put them together and watch them. If the male is over active catch him and put him up. I have move problems with a over bossie hen.

I have never had a ABA Standard. I have had several APA Standards. I just thought the APA would take care of about anything I needed to know.

Summer has hit western Oklahoma, last two days over 100, 94 today. Birds don't get much growing done in hot weather. I have hatched about 175 total birds, the way the baby chick started goes I might have a few more than I need. I hatched a few std buff orps and 6 Black Cochins stds. You never know, I might get into those new types, cochinstons or whatever they call them. I did hatch alot of white, black and blue orp bantams, the buffs was a wreck, I think there is 3 buff bantams. I also raise a few buff brahams and a few rosecomb bantams. We have a new grandbaby and I got her some dark cornish bantams. Something a little different. This fall I'm only going to keep my std buffs and my black bantams, and Miss Gracies cornish. I have retired and need to slow down the chicken deal a little. I do have some nice blue and white bantams, I'll show a few and be done with them. Julie, you need to let me know about the Black Cochins, they would like to come home with young family.

Very nice buffs. I got some of David's male birds but didn't have any luck getting good eggs. Have you talked with David since he moved, I wonder if he kept any birds? When he or they made there mind up to sell and move to the lake it didn't take long.

My cuckoo male started off good, I had him in with 2 black females, all at once he went to shooting blanks. He had no bugs and seemed to be in great health. So I have put the lemon project on hold. Would have been fun to see what turned up.

Terra, you do have some nice blues. I would think it would be hard to part with those. Very nice. I know blues are a hard color to breed.

Rain is something we haven't seen in a while, we did get about 1 in last night. In western Oklahoma sometimes we don't get much rain. One time I had a oldtimer tell me it rained for 40 days and nights, and we got a half inch.

Bill. I have hatched a few big buffs over the years and I never had a white pop out. It will be interesting to see this guy every 2 weeks. The buff in his wings would tell me he might turn buff, but what do I know. Is his legs white?

We have been out in TN getting our house sold. When we got back I was greeted with my newsletter and yearbook. Christina, that was very nice of you to go to all the trouble to do a yearbook. I know that takes some time to do that. Thanks so much.
