My girls are starting to look unkempt. It will probably be awhile before they get their pictures taken again. Neville seems to be doing his job breeding wise. They're all a bit upset with me right now though, we just got done playing musical pens, switching birds around to give some of the girls a break and to allow for others to be bred. I'm hoping the eggs in the incubator are all fertile. Neville paced the fence calling to his girls the first day they were separated, poor boy. I'm going to start hatching some of my Partridge project eggs soon. I plan on putting Neville and my messy Partridge marked hen together in a breeding pen so that I can collect only her eggs, when I've got about 6-8 saved up I'll put them in the bator too. I'm excited to see what hatches from this girl. I also plan on hatching some project meat birds from Neville this year. I'm going to put him over some Heritage Rhode Island Red hens and a Coronation Sussex hen that I have. They're all big meaty birds. I have no idea what the chicks will look like but I'm thinking it will be a colorful hatch.

I have 3 blues, 1 black and 1 splash - 8 weeks old then there are 4 blacks (3 weeks old - Christina these are Quincy babies). and finally - 1 blue and 3 blacks (about 1 week old). I was not going to set any more...let these grow out and see what I come up with...all 3 sets have different parentage so I can set up trios or quads (at least what I am hoping for).
Sooooo, it is a good idea to "shake up" the roos a bit...keep them busy and on their toes? this is good to know.

Jeremy, if its any consolation to you...I'm world famous for hatching a box of roosters..every year...I usually have just 1 pullet , so year by year I add a hen..I'm thinking one of these years I'm bound to hatch a batch of hens.. I am know for that to lol. Every year it seems I hatch heavy on cockerels and than the next year it will be pullets. This year has been a pullet year so far. With the exception of my first few hatches. I have alot of white APA males and black English males.

Lord tere are some fantastic birds here...
This year was no exception for me Christina...every year I increase my hen population by 1 or 2 ....the rest are roosters..yard full of roosters..
After we build the new barn, I will keep more of them..we want to set it up with sections like Faulkners did, and someone posted their well done set up in here..it will look like that,my husbands free roaming Aussie hens can have the old coop all to themselves..
You will have to work with me someday on the long back..my eyes play tricks on me..I think I'm seeing an illusion with feathers ..or when they shed baby feathers..there are not a lot of good photos to draw examples from

To explain what you are trying to understand. I would be more than happy to help you with what ever you need.

Sure Christina, they are in laptop at home, I'm on tablet right now..to morrow when I'm off, I will post them but I don't have anything to compare it to. Wonderful baby, he just seems short length wise, maybe just my eyes playing tricks on me.
