It seem that we are getting more and more new folks in the club and also on here. I think it would be nice to tell who you are, where you live and a little about your poultry operation. I will do mine and you will know who I am. Don Chandler, President United Orpington Club. Live in Watonga, Oklahoma, not long. I raise standard buff and bantams in black, white, blue and buff. Next year only black bantams and the big buff. I'm a old retired ag teacher and my chickens is about it. Charlott (wife) asked me yesterday morning what I was going to do that day, I told he nothing, she said that is what you did the day before, I told her I wasn't done.

I relocated to southern CA from upstate NY two years ago. Besides the culture shock, I am in the process of adapting to very hot summers from rather chilly winters with snow! My first chickens were buff orpingtons from a hatchery, and I fell in love with the breed. On moving, I wanted chickens again, did some research and discovered BBS orpingtons!
I currently have 14 LF BBS orps from Imogene Segars' and Julie Bachelor's lines. They are lovely birds! I am retired and not interested in showing. They, and 4 geese, are my hobby and provide me with eggs, a few chicks, and entertainment.

Hello ! My name is Fred, I live in Des Moines,Iowa. I have 3 buff orpingtons 1 rooster, 2 hens. I retired 2 years ago to raise my 3 grand children. They couldn't have a pet in house so I came up with idea of chickens and the 7 year old loves them. Now we have a 11 month old hen that started laying eggs a month ago. She has decieded to set on eggs now. The 7 year old checks on her all the time.

I am Julie Batchelor and live in Alabama. I have downsized my flock to a small number. I am very busy with things I feel like Jesus wants me doing. I almost completely got rid of my birds back in the Summer but my Sweet husband talked me into keeping a few because he knows how much I love Orpingtons. I have BBS LF. the few I have kept are turning out pretty awesome. I feel Blessed. I appreciate getting to talk to other Orp breeders who enjoy this wonderful breed in every color and type. Don is a great President in my opinion and Christina has done a fantastic Job promoting the club and breed.

We are Elcie and David we live in Ocala Fl we have a little farm and we love our Orps, we fell in love with the Buffs and ordered some from a Hatchery, as I found out more about them and I sold them all and I'm in search in some good SQ stock.
I have BBS Orps, and today at the Inverness double show my 8 month old cockerel won BV-BB with the first judge, the second judge gave him BV and got beat by a Pullet from Lisa Fender at least it was a nice Buff.
but the high light was that My cockerel was taken to Champions Row and Won ENGLISH CHAMPION and some money!! Yayyyy
the reserve English was won by a Sussex by Julie Akers
there were if I remember right 21 birds in the English class and only 8 Orps including my Champion.
I also have 3 white pullets and 3 cockerels.

I'm Kassandra and live in Sheridan, AR. I've got a small flock of buff orpingtons and son to have a few more after the Shawnee show. ;D. The buffs are what originally got me into chickens. Just met a bunch of orp people at crossroads and we have a really great group of people here. Welcome to the new folks!! Oh and I'm working on getting Nava some chicks!!

Hi, I am Harry and I live in a small rural Pennsylvania farming area. I have Orps and a few other breeds. I am raising and breeding Large Fowl only in Whites, Blacks, BLues, Cuckoos and Lavenders. I am thankful to many on this site for helping me get started in some quality birds.
I need to add this to here because of some confusions which occurred: I am not associated with either: Schafer's Farm or Shafer"s Farm since the name Shaffer is very common.

This is good, as I look this list over I know we have more that needs to get on here and tell us about there operation. Chickengrandpa, it's all worth it. That 7 year old might have chickens the rest of her life. Frank, do you do pictures, sound like you have it going on. Oklahoma has become the earthquake place, we had one last night. 5.something, I was in bed, it was after the OSU football game. Charlott was watching TV and said the house shook. We are in the heart of all this oil and gas drilling and this well fracking can't be real good. Heather, how are your blacks bred, I could use a new male that wasn't related to mine.

Hi y'all! I'm Kathy. Mike and I have been married for over 40 years. We are from Iowa, and bought our retirement home on 4 acres in Missouri just a few years back, and are living there now. I am a nurse, and Mike works on the UPRailroad. We have 5 adult children and 8 grandkids, and we hope to retire someday before we die. As far as chickens..... my focus is on my Delawares, New Hampshires, and Barred Rocks. Delawares were my first interest, and I found it difficult to find quality birds to work with. With encouragement from others and advice from some genetic experts, I decided to take on a project and create a new strain of Delawares. First objective was to find quality stock to begin this venture. I searched and found the Barred Rocks (from the stock I wanted) and New Hampshires to begin the project. My F2s are now on the ground. (Good thing I love hatching too, as it took 200 chicks to get a dozen keepers.) If all goes well, I will have 100% Delawares in the F3s. I will work on them for a few generations, I imagine. I fell in love with Orpingtons when I saw pictures of the Imported English type. I have 2 pens of them. I do not breed to any standard. I breed for big fat fluffy birds, as that is what I like. I also have a half dozen Lavender Orp projects I am working on. They need some work. I like the Lavender color. I attended the Crossroads Show, with my daughter. This was only the 3rd show I have ever seen. I went to Club meetings and met lots of folks I knew only from online forums. It was a great time. It was wonderful meeting the Orp folks and the meeting was very nice, too. I especially enjoy that this club is so active and the members are so helpful and friendly.
