The weather is going to get bad in Watonga, OK. Tuesdat night 4 deg and Wed. night 2 deg. Not going to warm up above freezing for 3 days. 10 to 12 in of show and ice. For a topping 40 to 50 mph wind. I'm looking for my longjohn's tonight for sure. Last Friday and Sat. it was in the 70's. I bet this put's the brakes on the egg laying.

I hear ya, Don. I am in southwest Missouri, 90 miles south of Kansas City. Forecast calls for up to 4 inches of ice .... can you imagine??? OMG! THEN, to top that, we are to get 16 - 20 inches of snow. Suppose to be the worst storm system here in many many years. I am not prepared for all this! My DH is working in Colorado, and will not be making it home.

Good grief !!! We are forecast for rain and highs in the low 40s. That is pretty hard to take after being in the 70s and sunny this past weekend. I thought our forecast was bad, but ours looks pretty good compared to yalls.

I was going to set egg's today, and decited if we lose the power due to the ice, setting egg's would not be a good thing.

I am lucky. The Bulls eye is directly over INDY for the Ice. My wife is the manager of the testing lab at one of our hospitals and is a good girl and went in tonite to stay possible for 2 days there before I see her again. This all means that CHICKENS runnin a muck in the house! Letting dogs sleep in the bed!!! A day with no baths! Should be a blast!!

It has been a nice break from the cold. It has rained today. The pens are muddy. I set about 36 more eggs tonite. Every week I am having a few more fertiles. Joy I had two out of Hoss's pen. He must be getting the hang of it. I am remodling my master bath and ordered a 72 inch claw foot tub this afternoon. It should be here in about 3 weeks. I am hoping we have good weather again when we get in throws of tearing up and putting back together. A sweet surprise is in my garden. I need to get it tilled up but I noticed this plant for the last few months. Like since Thanksgiving. I though at first it was a turnip. I went and looked close a few days ago and can you believe it is a broccoli. Has a little stalk of broccoli right in the middle of it too. My pansies are loving the cold weather we were having and have been in full bloom for months. I have camelias about to bloom too.

Well here in central Il we (from my understanding) are facing one of the worst blizzards on record. School has been canceled for all of the schools in my area including mine. We are expecting 1-2 ft of snow in the next few days.

Boy what I would give just to have a foot of snow instead of this ice. I just stuck my mug outside a min ago and was pelted with sleet. Felt like little BB's pounding my face. The ice is already 1/4 of an inch on my favorite magnolia which doesn't ever loose all of it's leaves and likes to snap when overloaded with ice. And tomorrow nite is when the heavy ice comes in. I'll trade ya Jon?

I think you guys in Illinois have it worse than I do, so I will stop complaining (no I won't.... I hate this! LOL) Good luck to you! I have not open any of the coops. They are all shut in for awhile. It is still coming down and blowing. Outside deck door, looking west: Outside front door, looking east: Outside garage door looking south: Outside basement studio door, looking west:

I bought a 2 and 1/2 acre place to keep my birds. It's like 3 miles from my home. I just went over there to feed and get any eggs that pop up. It's 2 deg and wind blowing like 30 mph. Cold is the deal. It's hard for me to know how folks live up north where it's bad cold. Vern talks about it being 32 below. That would be a bad dream.
