We were talking today about showing and had several questions/concerns about showing. One area was preparing for the show and safety? We all know that there is the possibility that diseases could be spread at shows, so do you do anything special to help keep your chickens from getting something from other birds at the show? Before the show? Cooping in? During the show? Cooping out? When you get back home?
Also, what kiind of things do you look for in your own chickens to make sure that you don't take a chicken that might have something?

The best thing you can do is quarantine your birds when you get home away from the other birds. I have heard of people throwing their birds back in with other birds. While you might get away with it for a while, most people who do this eventually have a huge loss of their breeding flock. Always pay attention to the other birds while you are at the show. If you see a sick bird report it to the show supervisor, as they can remove the entry. That being said, the only thing I have ever brought home from a show is fowl mites. You want to make sure to debug your bird when you get home as well.
