What area are you in? There are some pretty good shows coming up in the Southeast. There is one in Pensacola, Fl on March 31st. There is one in Moulton, Al on April 13,14 &15 and there is one in Clanton, Al. on April 21st. I am hoping to go to the Kentuckiana show in Shelbyville, KY on May 19th as well.

Don, have you ever been to the show in Newport? Is it a pretty good size show with a good number of Large Fowl? Living this far in the South I have carefully select where I am going show because them 11-12 trips can wear on me and the birds.

Matt i am so glad your getting to go to so many shows. Maybe next year I can. Is the show in Clanton a APA sanctioned show or just ABA. I have been to that one when I had silkie bantams but they were only ABA then. Also how big is the show in Pennsacola?/ Not that I can make it. I don't have one bird in any shape to show right now. The one in Kentucky sounds interesting too.

Julie, the show in Clanton is still an ABA sanctioned show but they do have judges that are APA/ABA certified that judge the Large Fowl. We won't get any APA points but I am going so that it may eventually grow on the LF side and possibly be APA sanctioned at some point. The show in Pensacola is being put on by the newly formed Panhandle Poultry Club. It is our first show so I'm not sure how many birds will be there but we are expecting 800-1000 birds. It is APA/ABA sanctioned show and it is a double show as well. We are going to push the LF side as much as possible. I went to the Kentuckiana show in Shebyville last year as a spectator and really enjoyed it so I am looking to go back to show this year.

Matt, I'm sorry for not replying to your message, I just saw it. I lived in Newport, TN for about 15 years. They have two shows a year, pretty nice. Not alot of large fowl, if they do 100 that's a lot for them. It's like most shows in that area, it a Old English Bantam show.

:)Hello all,
We are still looking for for some Orpingtons. K really wanted large fowl whites. However, after several requests, we did not find any. So, he is interested in getting blues, blacks, or splashes. The only orpington he has is a little hatchery buff.
The ideal solution for him would be some started chicks hatched after January 1. We are planning to go to several shows this spring, so maybe some one will have a start for him.
We will probably attend the show in Sedalia Mo in April. We are considering the Cornhusker show in Nebraska in April or the show in Michigan. We are planning to attend the show in Peoria IL on May 5. Please let us know if you have chicks or eggs or even older chickens to help him get started.
We live in central Illinois, but are willing to travel some to pick up.
