I haven't wormed my young birds this year. I do raise all my babies off the ground and I think this helps to keep the worms down. Maybe not, I guess thats in my mind. I have always used the pig wormer Piperzene (spelling) on the young ones. Does anyone use different wormer for younger birds?

I use Piperzine on the babies. I agree, on wire there is way less chance of worms.

When I do the Piperzine, I worm everything. Old young whatever. I also worm fall and spring. I use Ivomec and Valbenz(spell) sheep wormer. On the Ivomec I have been doing the pour on kind. It seem to worm real good. If you don't use gloves I would say it will worm you and if you have a head lice problem it will get them also. Safeguard, I haven't used that, is that a horse wormer? I think it is good to use different kinds.

I know on sheep and goats in wetter areas you have to worm more often. Are chickens the same? Never thought about it, if so, as hot and dry as it is in Oklahoma my bird should not be wormie.

Your probably right Don, it's time for me to worm again the first of Oct., as hot and dry as it has been in South Texas I'm probably wasting Ivomec. I have a freind who is a biologist for Tyson foods hatching operation, I'm going to ask him if he can teach me to check for worms instead of just treating them on a schedule.
