To bring this topic back up, I hatched a bantam buff orp last week with very noticeable dark head spots. I have hatched several with them or maybe all of them some with darker spots than the other as I have only hatched a few chicks so far. The other thing is that ALL of the chicks I have hatched from my trio have been pullets, any link?? The one thing I have to disagree on compared to the talk in the Chantecler thread is that I do not have smutt in my buffs. Here is a picture of the new chick and a link the thread with discussion. showbirdbid.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cfi&action=display&thread=2103

Did you get your buffs from David? David used a buff guy that was very dark, he turned his buff deal around. He gave that male to me when he quit. I didn't get any chicks out of him. I have the thoughts that if they are a little dark, better than to light. I don't get the pepper in the tail very much in bantams, in the standard I get alot of it.

Yes, they are all Davids stock. I have been hatching trying to get a new upcoming cockerel but so far all I get is pullets. This is one of the older pullets I hatched out that I had hopes of showing this fall. She is a beautiful girl but her comb is not turning out the greatest.
