I have some eggs under some broody hens that should be hatching soon, but my rooster died so i just have one hen.

So sorry to hear that , he was looking really nice. Hopefully you will have a good hatch and end up with a few to carry on.

Very nice! Your lucky, I have NO fertility in my buffs this year, two of the hens haven't laid in almost a year and the other lays occionsally but not one thing has been fertile from her. I do know the rooster is fertile as I have offspring from an outside hen.
Guess I need to go on the hunt for a couple of quality pullets.

It almost pays to have an heir a spare and another spare..sorry you lost your rooster..
I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to put a hen on a diet..my lord this orp hen is getting fat..she looks like a baby black bear..she gets huge on grass buggs and handful of her cereal..I know the babies scratch grower pellets under the fence where she can reach it..god she's big..guess I will try 1/2 a handful of grain and see if that works...i don't know what to do with her..she has a huge pen to run around in and she chases the babies along the fence. But seems to gain a pound with Evey breath..
