Due to the extreme cold this winter I didn't get any eggs hatched until the end of March. I was hoping to maybe show a few from this hatch by late fall. What is the best way to feed for quick growth? I have them on 22% starter now, do I just leave the ones that might show on it all summer? What's the youngest you have shown an orpington? Thanks

I don't ever feed that high of protein. I feed a baby chick starter which I think is 18 protein. I never change there feed. My breeder and everything eats chick starter. Terry Britt does that and it works for him, I tried it 2 or 3 years ago and it seems to work for me. This last year Irene sent me 5 chicks about 6 weeks old. They was hatched May 15, they was out of my females and her English guy Midus. I show the in Dec, at Shawnee and was big enough. They grew very good. Always before if you don't get them hatched in Jan or Feb you don't get them big enough. Our summers here in western Oklahoma is hot and you don't get much growth. I would think it would be cooler in the summer there.
