Is your rooster recessive white or is he also incomplete dominate white. Dominate white is a diluting gene and splash is a diluting gene. When your whites hatch is their down grey, or almost black/blue?

Interesting. Looks like it is feathering in white. When I used to breed silkies I would Have white chicks that hatched silver and they would be the best whites I had.

Davy, Those white imports carry so many modifier genes that it is hard to say. The chick down on my whites were consistant with them being a medium gray with white spot on the head(cuckoo gene) before adding the Belgium imported blood. Now after using birds with the Belgium imported blood the chick down is all over the wall. I have chicks that are white, yellow, very light grey, average grey, extremely dark grey, buffy color, buffy color over grey in different degrees of intensity most have the white spot on their head(cuckoo gene).

Davy, You sure that is not a coronation chick? Wait till it feathers out but if it has just an off color feathering like that I personally would cull it.

It might be a coronation because it does have that blueish lavender around the neck. David

Davy, Looking on Feathersite the coronation chicks do not resemble your chick unless there is a variation it may not be a coronation Orp.
