I am having trouble with one of my incubators. can any of you help? the heat has dropped. Is it that I need a new heat element? This is my Sportsman 1202. Fan still runs.

Fred, I sent you a email, mine did that I told you how to fix it. Do you have it in house or in a not heated area?

Depending on whether it's electronic thermostat or wafer with switch, you might need to order a new switch; call GQF Co, Savannah, GA for them to help you troubleshoot. Tell them what model # you have- how old, etc. www.gqfmfg.com/store/ phone 912-236-0651 or e-mail sales@gqf.com I've had a 1202 for over 15 years. It's the older wafer type. The only thing that's ever gone bad was several years ago. It suddenly wouldn't heat. New wafers didn't help. It was the switch. The little box next to the wafer(s).

My sportsman is like 25 years old, that little wire in front of the fan broke and it didn't heat up. I don't know if it rusted or what. That wire gets hot when it's heating.

Don.. I would think that wire is suppose to work as a heat indicator to the thermostat to tell the fan when to come on

My bad. I found an old ad on RBA that was a couple of weeks after I got the eggs from you and it was for eggs from split black roo over chocolate hens. But, I found the email where you told me they were from chocolate roo over black hens. So, now I am hatching F2's at 3/4 size. I understand. Well, I gotta say my current breeders are some nice sized chocolate roos. Thanks

Good Renie, I never have very good luck with shipped eggs. I hatched Tuesday over 100 chicks, sent Beau in MN some std buffs and black bantams. I hope they make it, I bets it cold in that country.

Don, these had a rough ride...I wiped the broken yokes off the outside of the good eggs with the dry pine shavings rather than washing them. Then I did what Vivi told me to do.... I rested the eggs in a tray for two days in a cool quiet undisturbed place (closet) Now if we don't get any red rings... It should be a very good hatch Oh and Congrats on the new babies.

Thank you Sis for letting everyone know. Pulled more eggs down to hatch. Checked running totals so for chicks since last April 1500 hatched. No wonder I'm pooped.
Shipped eggs is at about 80 to 85 %

The chicks arrived most of them alive. It is very cold here in Minnesota. Thanks Don can't wait to show them when they are full grown.
