I put eggs in 2 weeks ago to day. I had 4 good buff eggs out of 15. Not good. Black bantams no good eggs, choc bantams every egg was good. I'm using all young males. Most of the time I never have a problem early using young males. Any one else started? If so how does yours look? This year I got a partridre wyandotte pullet and I'm crossing a cuckoo male over her, with Creles on my mind. Think it might work. I'm also crossing choc over cuckoo to do choc cuckoo. I have 2 pens of std buff, but I'm not going to hatch over 50. With feed prices I think that will be good. I kept 2 black pullets from the choc crossed over a split guy and I'm using one of my black guys over them. It will add new blood and won't have any choc offspring.

Don, I have some eggs in the bater from one pair. Trying to see what they produce. . No blacks laying eggs yet. I have a black pullet in with half LF size Cock but after a several weeks of setting eggs no fertiles. Now she hasn't laid in week. This project is taking a good bit of time.. Funny thing. My choc bantams hatched some eggs and I had a small half LF chocl pullet in the pen with the bantams. I have hatched a Choc Roo that is Larger than bantam. Maybe he will be large enough and look good enough to use in Breed pen. He is fathered by the boy you sent me. I have some blues hatched out from a black over Splash breeding. They are looking really good so far. I am trying not to hatch to many

I put 20 or more choc bantams on the ground to grow out about 2 weeks ago, Also around 15 bantam blacks. Needing LF black pullets or eggs. Have a few bantam buffs in the bater and some black chicks in a brooder. Hoping this is a better year for rasing chicks. Last year was terrible.

I have been concentration on my E buffs... The younger pullet is now laying.. soo I got 4 eggs in two days... then they skipped yesterday.. hoping more eggs today.. I am waiting to finish a couple of staggered test hatches I have in the bator right now before puttin these in.
I put my trio in the nursery... Soo all the chicks produce from that room will be 100%. Waiting on Dons pullets to start laying before doing any crossing.
I tell you I am so very excited about this yr... Soo many fun things to do
Brad mentioned... we might convert the Buffs covered yard into another coop.. then make a new covered yard for the both of them. lol I like where this is going.. lol

Irene i am excited with you and I don't even have buffs. Charles hope all your buff bantams look as good as the ones you showed in Pensacola. Those were truly mini Orps. I wish I had some black pullets or hens to offer you. If my girls ever lay and egg again I am going to be one happy momma.

I have 13 LF Buffs and a lot of eggs set. It looks like most of the Blk LF are fertile. Buffs are having poor fertility so far. Same as last year. Fred

I made up one mating of LF Buffs in November. I have had 2 small hatches so far and 12 fertile eggs due to hatch tomorrow. I changed males a week ago, so the first eggs from this mating will be set next week. Hoping to hatch about 40 chicks from my 2 females. Sarah's 2 trios have yet to lay. She will probably be hatching late spring chicks (hopefully), all LF Buffs. Bob

Hi All,
Thought I might share a few pictures of my pullets and cockerels from Korfus Kluckers. They haven't started laying yet but soon! Also a picture of my Heirloom Poultry black rooster and his son. :-)
