They are looking good. The pic with the 2 pullets together I would pick the one out front. She looks good to me. I am not judging based on any special information. I just pick based on what I like.I have a lot to learn.

Angie, nice job. If I was you I would take 3 or 4 of those girls and the same boys to a show and and get a judges idea. I know some judges are different in what they like, but at lest you could get a idea.

Thank you both. I will try to take as many as I can. I have 4 conditioning coops done but the boys are still all in together.
Chicksooner- I too have a lot to learn!

Would love to see a pic of your conditioning coops. I will try to get one. Keep your expectations low because we cobble a lot of what we build!

Cobble up!! I would say they are very nice. One thing, when you put boys next to each other you might watch. They will decide to fight. Never falls, your nicest one will get messed up.

Jon- thank you
Don- Thanks. I thought about putting one cockerel on top & one on bottom so they can't get to or even see each other. I think for now we are going to use them for the pullets. I picked up 4 blue barrels today so hopefully this weekend we can get the boys in individual coops/runs.

One problem I could see happening with those pens is birds brushing up against the wire and breaking their feathers.

One problem I could see happening with those pens is birds brushing up against the wire and breaking their feathers. What kind of wire, if any, do you use for conditioning pens? The wire is smooth but I can see how they could get a feather in one of the openings. thanks

That is true, I have several bantam condition pens, they are 2X2X2 and all have plywood on all sides but the front. I think alot has to do with the bird. Some are just prone to break feathers and some never do. One thing you are trying to do is right, you can always try it out and see how it works. I would love to have 2 sets of those.
