Bill, The only other Columbians I have seen were in UK from a fellow that goes by Keith's Orpingtons. You may have the only ones in the USA right now. Good luck with another project there.

Your rite, who out there is lucky enough to figure out how to make em without using Lite Sussex. I only hatched out about a dozen from the parents of these White Columbians. Also got 3 Lemon or Buff Cuckoos, and cull the rest.

Here are 2 I like in my first wave of real Whites. These others are from a White project that I am doing to make something White. These 2 are from the Shafer line I have.

Bill, I have to correct myself there was a project pair of UK's sold on RBA site. I wish all my standard bred Orps were as nice as this White Columbian cockerel. He is just closing in on 6 months old.

Here is one for you guys. What to call these? Their daddy is one of the Cuckoos. Mom is either a White or a Dun Birchen. Sorta looks like Beige with a very lite Dun lacing. This one has near all white leg skin but is still a few shades off from being White. A White pullet that has a chance. .

Same March hatch White cockerel I have been posting. This is one of my biggest boys of the season. Not totally crazy about him. It is very hard to cull a bird with the boning I like. He is a bit too tightly feather for my liking. Since I only have experience with Buffs being this size it is hard to say even if I like his front. For a not even a 6 month old boy, you can see he is not done growing. One thing that some of you folks who do like the non standard varities have to worry about are the total loooooosers who will say anything to make a buck. I just went on Rare Breeds site and seen one of many who like to say "100% UK English Import Lines". I remember one of our younger members having issue with this same subject. Too many are saying anything to sell sell sell. Liars need only to post and may the buyers beware. Especially with these Buff or know as "Lemon Cuckoos". One of the ads said that UK Orps are like round basketballs, then went on to say how theirs fits that description to the tee. I have my doubts that there are any UK blood in most all of these Lemon Cuckoos. I seen what real UK Lemon Cuckoos look like and they do not look like what is being sold. Heck my homemade here in INDY Buff "Lemon Cuckoos" look as good or even better and their not double barred. These are only 5 months old. Harry really likes these boys. Esepecially the Buff, Dark Cuckoo . He says people on Rare Breeds would sell them for big bucks and call the Crele, which obviously he is not. Here are some of those birds I hatched out from my #2 Cuckoo cock over the Buff Columbian hen. Size MATTERS!

Bill those lemon cuckoos have potential and I know you have either buff or buff sports hens for them. Good luck with them.

Bill those lemon cuckoos have potential and I know you have either buff or buff sports hens for them. Good luck with them. I have a plan to put them to work. Both the Buffs, which I really need to thank Doug for letting me have to use, and Joyce for these 4 very nice Buff Sports. Then ofcourse I need to thank you too Harry for the opportunity to make some nice Whites. I have plans for my standard bred Orps and to play with the genetics to entertain the outside the box non standard folks with my Cuckoos and now White Columbians. First to be used with one of my two White cockerels from last season is already in progress. The problem with this fella is he likes to play favorites. As of last week the one nice White hen I got last winter was still laying. Now I have one of these 2 Buff Sports starting to lay. Good times ahead. Doug's line has worked well with what I have going on. One of the comments an APA judge told me last winter at Connersville is I need thicker boning for my Whites. I hope to use these 2 for that issue.

I know Davy and a few others who really like Whites like to see the progress on other breeder's bird to compare with. Here is a pic on one pullet who is an Aprilish hatch. No older then that. Could be early May. I am terrible about dates on my hatches. I figure it only matters what they look like when they finish up.

I posted this page from the Reliable Poultry Journal of 1911 on another site where there is a very heated discussion on over size Orps should be a DQ. wHEN I POSTED A pic of DOC CLEVEGER'S AD some over there said it was A FAD. Doc's ad was 60 yrs ago. WELL THIS PAGE I TOOK THIS PIC IS FROM A 100 YEAR OLD BOOK. Looks like a White that would fit right in any top Exhibition White Orp breeder's flock. I am talking about the hen. She looks like a monster.
