Welcome Jeff. Would love to photos of your exhibition birds. I love "looking for the perfect Orp". I think we are all in that mode. Sounds like you have been blessed with some good orps.

Hi everyone, my name is Jeremy and I live in Oakland, California and have a small flock of Imported English Blue, Black and Splash Orpingtons. I started with hatchery birds like most folks but quickly realized that I wanted more. I found Joy and shortly after Julie and as soon as I saw pictures of their gorgeous big Blue Orpingtons I knew I had to have them. I was hooked. My flock consists mainly of Blue and Splash birds, I actually only have 1 Black hen, my Thelma. I plan on raising a Blue cockerel this season to eventually hatch some more Blacks. I've never shown my birds, I honestly don't have any plans to. I just love my Orps and enjoy watching them range over the backyard. I'm glad I've joined the UOC, I recenlty met Christina Korfus and Jean Ribbeck at a show here in Stockton, California this past weekend. I wish I would of had more time to talk to them both but everyone was running all over the place busy at the show. I would love to meet more folks in the future. Orpington people seem to be good people.

Orpington folks are good people, it's just every now and then we have a problem. Not very often, you did get in touch with two fine ladies that know alot about English Orps. Who was the big winner at Stockton?

Just got back. Jim Sallee won with a Buff Orpington Pullet and went on to win reserve LF. Congrats again Jim if you see this.

Jim Sallee is from California, he is a mmeber of the UOC as well as a long time poultry Judge. I got best of variety in blue, black and white but no stiff competition in those varieties. Hoping for some more competition at Stevenson, WA or Monroe WA in the upcomming months.

Congrats to you anyway Christina! Good job! When are Stevenson and Monroe? I will try to make it! By the way, my babies from you have been laying like crazy since around sometime in November. I'll try to take some photos. I really love them.

I'm Sarah and I only have a few birds. At the moment one Black hen from Jody, two part english pullets, and three hatchery buffs. Then some assorted hatchery birds that I'll be clearing out. I plan to hatch some more nice ones this spring. I had more but since I only have a 1/2 acre city lot I cull HARD. Even though I only hatched 5 blacks, and only two were pullets, I still culled the small one by giving it away. The neighbors grandchild and her mom LOVE LOVE LOVE their "fluffy one.!" They now will not get any chickens from the feed store or anywhere else, they're holding off for more culls, or more "fluffy ones." hehe.
I fell in love with Orpingtons shortly after getting my first chickens ever, after wanting chickens for years on end. I've only had chickens for about two years. But I've learned that Orp folks are the best!

Hi, im Lynne OBrien, live in upstate NY. Love big horses and big chickens , have a German warmblood horse and black orps and australorps. The australorps have been a challenge to say the least. Our orpingtons are a product of breeders in here and all of their hard work..they are shown and spoiled. After 25 years of struggling along with australorps, about ready to give up on them..they are great egg layers so will breed enough to keep winter eggs around. Recently diagnosed with severe RA , doc said really need to give up the horse activities. But the chicken keeping is no problem..I have switched dressage shows for chicken shows and I LOVE it..my horse freinds say ..your showing what? ? They think its funny but some of them are getting interested in it. And Julie, Jesus gave you the gift of good chicken breeding

Lynn Welcome and so glad your part of the UOC. It has been exciting to see this club grow and communicate over the past few years. I am so excited about so many Orps being shown. And Lynn i must say if I have any abilities for anything Jesus gave it to me. Without Him I am a Zero with the Rim knocked off

My name is Randy from NEB, not home to a lot of chickens any more. My wife Dee and I both grew up on farms and we had BUFFS. 24 year's ago but had to give them up. Now we are back with a new flock buffs and lemon cuckoo's, not sure we will ever show but hope to get to some just to meet all you fellow breeders and learn from you.Hope you can put up with a lot of questions.

Hi Randy, nice to meet you.
And thanks Julie. I have been having a blast fussing over these chickens, I have to admit I was pretty lot after docsaid no more horse bizness. Chickens have been a wonderful substitute.
I am nothing without the lord either, I have no wins without him.. Our pastor is from. Britain, he said the cutest thing to husband and and I last week, he said....Lynne GOD made you an artist,'he best find you doing that when he comes a calling...he made some people good chicken breeders, he best find them doing that when he calls. So Julie, keep breeding the best the lord can offer for us to enjoy.
Lynne
