I was wondering what everyone used for coops? I am thinking about having some pens inside my barn for breeder birds.

I have a 16X20 building and all my bantams live inside in small pens. I haven't got to build any pens for outside yet. I will when the weather warms up. I hope to build some pens outside of the groung to raise you birds in. I think I do better with the younger guys on wire. By the time to put on the ground I start to cull. If not you will have chickens running out your ears. In my building I have 40 smaller 2X2 boxes I put them in and that is there home. Cleaning is the biggest problem, good for the garden.

Ok cool. I probably will put pens outside for breeders but will definitely need inside pens during the winter. Do you think that poultry arks or tractors would work for pairs and trios?

I have a building that is 24' x 40' and pens inside that are 4'x8' and some that are 6' x 8' I also have pens on the outside that are of different sizes. Plan on building some movable 4 ft x 8 ft. pens next week.

I have various types of pens. All pretty easy to rake out but I wish I had a more professional look. Wish I had a barn type setup for inside when raising out the young.

We need to build more outdoor growout and conditioning pens, so are looking for ideas. Our birds do not run loose because of so many predators.

If my birds saw all those nice pens they would want to move to your house.

For some good coop ideas, go to http;//www.bantamclub.com. Click on photos and on page one you will see a bunch of great coop ideas. I think you may have to be a member of the ABA to get on. If anyone finds some good coop ideas, they could post where to find them on this site.

Nice pen set-up. We have ours in big, really big pen out in the woods. Good for the summer time because they have plenty of shade and in the winter the leaves fall off the trees and they get lots of sun. We do have smaller breeding pens when we need to separate out birds into trios or quads. Sharon

For some really good coop ideas, go to cochinsinternational.cochinsrule.com. Click on members links and go to Golden Feather Farms. On the cochin accomodation tab there are some great coop ideas for breeding and conditioning both large fowl and bantams. Tom seems to have more time than I do, but then he is retired. I have met him once, a very nice fellow.
