I didn't stay for the end, had to be back by 2 for my 40 year old daughters birthday party. But if you ask Hailey its the ones we bought. She was sure looking at the little ones. Didn't see any orpingtons. So in the spring if you want to we talk about bantams. Got to see if I have an incubator first. She would like them for sure. Plus maybe we could talk about eggs for the big ones to.Thank you and Jon for all your help.

Fred, those good ones don't eat much more than the hatchery ones.

Fred, you bet, I'll get the party started around Jan. 1, I have my lights on now. I do have mostly pullets and they are laying nicely now. I just hope it's not so hot next summer, this last one enough for me. I lost all my early standard buff to the heat. This is the time to be living up north. I just couldn't get along to good when it's -30 something in the winter.

Just put more clothes on. Checking on getting kids in 4H right now. Almost all I found are full. They want you to start a new one? Might have to wait a year. Give me planty time to get the buff's started. Do the buff's need heat in coop. It will have a heated waterer in it. Could put heat lamp if needed. Only got below 0 4 times last year.

I answered my own question last night. He showed a little black on his comb this morning, so I put vaseline on it looks fine now. lights on and new hen is laying eggs. Best to use red heat bulb.

Congrats to Doug Akers for his Best Large Fowl vistory at the Connorsville Show this weekend. Doug had not shown this hen till this weekend. Too bad for everyone at Crossroads who hadn't a chance to check her out. She is a knockout. I was a distant Reserve of Variety with my Buff. She was kind enough to give me an egg in the carrier for me on the way back home. Here is Doug's Hen then followed by my hen

Bill, Doug and you both should feel proud of your birds. I am sure there are a lot of people wish they had either one. I like them both. You didn't mention what other Orps you had taken to the show.

Ron Hahn had a very nice Black pullet who got Reserve of Breed and Best Black. I took pics of her but they did not take. I brought two on my hens. One got a RV. I wished I did get a pic of Ron's. Congrats to him. NICE YOUNG GIRL!
